Is it legal to own the domain name of a politician? (not yourself)

I've read that getting a politician's domain name is not cybersquatting,

At least in the US, if you use the domain to express your right to free-speeach (1st ammendment), then it can't be taken from you using UDRP or cybersquatting statutes.

Is this true?

This article about the case of Rory Reid in Nevada seems to imply that UDRP and cybersquatting rules apply to political domains.

But it did not go to court.

I will research some more.
